Masaryk Lock - Ústí nad Labem

The locks were built in 1924-1936 to ensure the navigability of the river.

Masaryk Lock - Ústí nad Labem

The lock was one of the largest in the Czech Republic and one of the most modern in Europe. The monument is also known as Střekovská Dam. The locks include a hydroelectric power station, two locks, a fish passage and a weir, which can be used to achieve a 10 metre difference in water levels. From the Elbe Trail under the Střekov rock near Ústí nad Labem, you can cross the Elbe and see the technically perfect waterworks, which is an important construction on the navigation route to Hamburg. A nice view of the locks can also be seen from Střekov Castle. The hinterland is accessible during special events such as open days.
