The lookout tower is located near the top of Velký Chlum near Děčín at an altitude of 488 m above sea level.
The lookout tower was built in 1879 by members of the Mountain Association of Bohemian Switzerland. It was toppled several times and even collapsed. The lookout tower underwent several modifications and in 1997 it was equipped with a roof and completely repaired. The view from the lookout tower is not circular, but it will offer a view of the town of Děčín, the Elbe Valley and some beautiful mountain peaks.
